Life Goal

At a recent job interview I was asked this question:

"What is your goal in life?"

Honestly, I don't know how to answer this kind of question. If the interviewer were to ask the same question 5 or 10 years ago, I am sure that I will be able to answer it in a snap. My goal in life used to be finished off school, get a good degree in order to get a good job. But then again, what defines a good job? It is relatively subjective. My boyfriend would define a good job by getting a handsome paycheck at the end of every month. I on the other hand define a good job as doing something which I love passionately. So, it's up to that person to define the true meaning of a good job.

Now that I have finished off school and got my degree and (if I) finally got a job, what else is left for me? Getting hitched? Maybe, if God's willing (Insya Allah). Kids? No, it's too early to talk about family planning. Perform Hajj in Mecca and be a good daughter, wife, mother and most importantly a good Muslim? Well, of course! But I can't say that to the interviewer, can I?

I told H about my concern to which he calmly replied;

"Que sera sera sayang. Be strong and have faith in Allah for He surely had laid out everything for you. You just don't know it yet."

His words instantly soothed me. Maybe I should stop worrying too much and listen to him.

As for what is my goal in life career- and life-wise?

I am still thinking..

reena: Tula, I also hate this kind of question. I'm always like, is this suppose to be a trick question or a question that gonna make me fail? Should I answer it in terms of literally life-wise or career-wise? Pening tau. My bf is always the calm type,while I'm more on the paranoid and overthinking side. Haha. Tapi dia pn kdg2 overthinking gak!
