DiGi Presents the HTC Evo 3D

Remember a while ago how I made fool of myself and was chosen as (one of the) winners to do a review on the uber cool and awesome HTC Evo 3D?

Well, guess what? My star might be shining because I could actually be in the run of winning the phone!

*jumping jacks*

First of all, I would like to thank Nuffnang and especially Digi for extending the Buka Puasa invitation the other day and for letting us made a fool of ourselves because if it wasn't for that, there wouldn't be any rewards to be given, would there? And also many thanks to my team mates who were such in high spirits and willing to do whatever it takes.

GIIRRRRRLLL POOOWWWEEERRR!!!!

And not forgetting The Bee as the venue sponsor and the scrumptious food that they served. I was actually there few weeks ago lepaking with our cousins and truly the food was still amazing. Before this "thank you" speech drags into that Academy Awards kinda speech, let me focus on the most important matter, which is the phone itself.

Presenting the phone that is so smart, it needs two cameras instead of just one.

But hey, remember how Taylor Swift and Boys Like Girls used to sing that two is better than one? Yes, it is indeed true because one of the key features of this phone with its dual cameras is that it has the ability to take 3D photo. Yeah, you heard me right, 3D photo. I.AM.NOT.KIDDING. I was actually having so much fun snapping photos away and crossing my eyes (and others. LOL) out to see the 3D-ness of the photos which sometimes can come out looking so realistic that you can bid goodbyes to those fugly looking 3D spectacles that the cinemas are forcing you to wear.

During the 2 weeks review period that I had, whenever I take out the phone out of my handbag to answer calls or whatever, people will ALWAYS say,

"Woah, such a huge screen you got there!"

"Yes, the better to Tweet-ing and Facebook-ing"

*social networks addict alert*

-_______-

Of course it's huge. It's 4.3 inch. That's almost as high as your high heels.

You know how iPhone users would always complaint that they have to purchase certain apps that they like on iTunes web? Well, THE best part and also my personal favourite is the fact that HTC is using Android as its platform, you can generally and basically download most of the applications (apps) available on HTC website for free. Like the other day, I downloaded this Pumpkins vs Monsters game and got so carried away with it.

It's actually a no-brainer game but gets more challenging as you move into higher level. There was this time, I was so into in lepas tu some stupid monsters get into my fortress and I lost the game! Mengelupur atas katil I tell you. And of course, my husband has nothing better to say than to laugh at my childish act. Shame shame (as our cousin's daughter and son would say).

If you were to ask me on technical aspects of the phone, then I am sorry cos I'm not the one that you should refer to. I am such a noob when it comes to smart gadgets. I think my PIL know better about latest gadgets than I do. They have iPad, iPhone, Samsung Galaxy Tab and lots of other thingamajing when I only use Nokia E71. I kid you not.

And the greatest news is that Digi is really being the sweetheart and comes up with an affordable plan for all whether you are a postpaid or prepaid user.

It's affordable, isn't it?

Review: HTC Evo 3D

Nuffnang and not forgetting, Digi are nice to award my teammates and I the brand spanking phone review after we made a fool of ourselves here.

So I got the taste of trying the smartphone for 2 weeks. Lo and behold, HTC Evo 3D!

Knock myself on the head for not having any actual photos of the phone.

The very first thing that you're gonna notice apart from huge 4.3 inch touchscreen is the dual camera. Well, the phone as the name suggests, has the function of taking 3D photos.

You can have the option of choosing 2D or 3D camera mode with the slid key

Exhibit A

It's interesting that the phone has the ability of taking 3D picture, though your eyes would have quite a hard time adjusting & finding the right angle to see the 3D-ness of it. Unfortunately, 3D image has an .mpo format and since normal PC doesn't support .mpo file, one has to convert it using some thingamajig software.

Instead of crossing my eyes trying to figure out the 3D effects, I am more interested in taking the normal 2D photos of myself.

OK, I look like a deer caught in the headlights. Or maybe possessed, by the spirit of one-that-eats-too-much-lemang-and-rendang.

The phone also records a high definition (HD) video but the video that I took was a bit private to share. Now, before you start going into THAT direction, sorry to disappoint you with the thought but it's not some home tape of Paris Hilton, ok. Lets keep the review an U (umum), shall we?

*clears throat*

At first, I was having difficulties in figuring out how to actually use the phone but after quite some time, I got the hang of it. I am a smartphone noob but my husband is a user of iPhone and surprisingly the phone's functions and interface is quite similar to iPhone. So yeah, I would say that it is indeed user friendly.

And since all HTC phones operate on Android, meaning that you can download (most of) the applications for FREE! Yay for me and yay to playing games without having to fight over the phone with my husband, for 2 weeks.

I can see that my husband is silently nodding to this.

When you have such a smart phone that can practically get you connected (provided that your place has internet coverage), what would you do when everyone seems busy talking to each other?

You update your Twitter

and Facebook. And spamming your friends' wall wishing them "Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri. Maaf Zahir & Batin"

Actual names have been removed due to privacy.
It's a smart-freaking-phone y'all. Social networking on the go. Yo.

You know what, if you are tech-savvy and interested to get a hold of the phone, you can actually do so because Digi is now coming up with an affordable smart plan.

Lastly, thousand thanks to Digi & Nuffnang for picking us, the Sensation team as a winner and giving us the chance to review such an awesome phone. Even if for only 2 weeks. But you know what, giving out the phone ACTUALLY for free doesn't sound bad, right?

Ehem.

Digi Buka Puasa

I think by now, I am the only one who still hasn't blog about the Digi event.

Anyway, on Thurday (25th Aug) I was lucky enough to score an invite to an iftar event organized by Nuffnang & Digi at The Bee, Jaya One.

I was the few first to arrive despite the crazy traffic jem in PJ. Being such a social blogger noob, I probably was the only one who didn't have any camera in tow.

Attempt to be a social butterfly, failed miserably.

After registration, each of us were then given a menu paper for ordering. I ordered an avocado burger with fries and a (very sour) lemonade together with free flow of drinks. While waiting for azan, yes you had correctly guessed it - it's photo time.

Then there were an ice breaking session and games were played. I was fidgeting in my seat, tempting to get that first bite of the burger. Food was a OK, well at least mine is. But in my opinion, nothing beats burgers from Carl's Jr. It was supposed to be a free flow of drink but sadly after finishing my first glass of uber sour lemonade, I didn't get a second serving of Coke that I asked for and neither did my table-mates. Amd we're seated in front of the drinks counter that you could hardly miss us! I guess, the waiters'/waiteresses' hands were too full. I wished that they could be more attentive.

After everyone seemed to have finished eating, Digi representative who I have seem to forgot his name introduced the HTC-DIGI packages that they have. They also introduced the soon to be launched HTC Sensation & HTC Evo 3D.

Then another games were played. A team must consists of 3 person. At first I was reluctant to move my butt off the chair and just wanna enjoy my dessert but this opportunity to be a social butterfly (yeah, right..) comes once in a life time. So I bid goodbye to churros and

say hello to my teammates;

Gosh, I hate that smug face of mine.

Our team name was Sensation. We entered both games but lost on the first game which the reward was a review for HTC Sensation. We stayed and proceeded with the second game and won! Yay! Girl powerrrr! The reward was a HTC Evo 3D review, which coming up really soon.

Before we ended the night, what would a bunch of bloggers usually do?

We took group picture, of course!
