Pixie

It has been almost a year since my last haircut and now, my tresses are getting unruly and I am dying to chop 'em off! You see, I have this super straight yet soft thin hair that makes me look like an extra wearing limp wig from B-grade ghost movie if it grows pass my shoulder. I don't know from whom I inherited that kind of hair cos Mother and Little Sister have the thickest hair I've ever known. Maybe it's the Father gene that got passed to me. Hmm. And I don't fancy having long hair because it's so hard to maintain and H has been nagging about the amount of hair that I shed around the house. I so feel like an old cat. Sobs.

By the way, did you know that on average 50-100 telogen hairs are shed every day? This is normal hair loss and accounts for the hair loss seen every day in the shower and with hair combing. I have been telling these facts to H many many times whenever he freaks out upon seeing my hairs in the shower. But he just won't buy it. Oh well, I rest my case.

Last year I had one of the most satisfying hair cut of my life at a fraction of price at a hair salon named Trendzcut in Kuching. Since this year, I won't be going back to Kuching for raya, I just don't know where to get a hair cut that gonna leave me feel the exact amazing feeling! I know that MIL frequented this super trendy hair salon in Bangsar but let be honest, a simple cut for almost RM90? I won't spend and don't have that much money, so thanks but no thanks.

I always like a good pixie cut and currently been eyeing for the same look. But I am not sure whether Husband is keen on the idea of me looking like a pre-adolescent boy. Quite creepy if you deeply think about it.

But then, aren't these ladies look gorgeous?

My personal picks are Mia Farrow (circa Rosemary's Baby) and Shannyn Sassamon.

Now, let's hope that Husband agrees with me having those cute pixie cut.

Life As A Tai-Tai

Yesterday I had a "me" time. And oh, it was pay day. Hehe.

My me time started with a short trip to Brazil. HAHA. It's been a while but it's still bearable. The pain la I mean. This time I went to Honeypot Waxing Boutique which was situated at Bangsar Shopping Complex. First timer (at the shop) gets RM20 off of the menu so I am going there for the cheap price. I was running late because let's face it, driving alone to an unknown location wasn't exactly my forte, although I've been to BSC so many times before but all these while H drove me there, so it was a different story. I had to listen to my navigator directing me there and driving a manual car. Yerp, I (still) drive a stick.

How's it feels like you ask me?

Well, we women are born with high pain tolerance or else, we'd never give birth. We are awesome creature like that. So a Brazillian is like ripping off a plaster of your (hairy) skin. On scale from 1 to 10, the ouch factor is 4. Pretty bearable. I think it all depends on your waxer. My waxer was one experience lady making the experience quite enjoyable (for the lack of better words). Man, was she quick! Rip, rip, done! Off you go ma'am. If you ever go to Honeypot, look for Lindsey.

I had mine for the first time at Apronbay since first timer get a 25% discount for full Brazilian. Tapi I think the waxer (at Apronbay who did me) lack experience that it made my trip a bit uncomfortable and what's with the first timer embarrassment lagi kan. You know what, I've been meaning to try out the Brazilian I think about 5 years back but somehow couldn't bring myself to do it. The pain, I can tahan but the humiliation and the embarrassment part tu yang I err, cannot tahan.

Then I went to redeem the hot stone massage coupon which I bought via Everday last month at Amante Nail & Spa in Bangsar. It was my first time doing hot stone massage so naturally I was a bit jakun. HAHA. It was a much needed massage cos my shoulders been aching for so long sampaikan masseuse tu pun tegur. Banyak angin katanya. Come to think about it, what is actually angin that we talk much about in traditional medicine? Can someone please enlighten me on this?

After the session, I was served a hot ginger tea. Sumpah sedap gila albeit a tad too sweet. Lepas tu terus aku buang angin banyak-banyak. HAHA.

I had a taste of life of a tai-tai for a day and it was nice. I had 1 week free time before I started working at new place and honestly, I can't wait to start working again.

Ye la tu, bila dah mula kerja, tak sabar nak cuti pulak. Biasalah. Hihi.

Groom(ing)

Being the Type A person that I am, I have made a series of checklist for everything that is wedding related. Apart from the usual nikah, reception, vendor checklists, I've added one checklist into my lists. One thing that I think some of bride-to-be might have missed out and neglect.

The grooming checklist.

Now we all agree that the bride is the center of or main attraction, correct? No matter how dashing and handsome the groom will look, he is merely an added accessories to the bride. Of course, you wouldn't wanna risk the chance of him stealing the limelight from you, now would you?

(Matilah lepas ni kena bashing dengan tunang sendiri)

The grooming checklist is important because a RM 5,000 designer dress will look cheap if you the bride didn't look good. Make-up can only cover the outer imperfection on your face. But how about your teeth? Your breath? Your unibrow and upper lips hair? Your nails?

And let's not be prude here, we are all big girls and big enough to handle this. During the night, where you might or might not be spending the night with your newly wedded husband. Do you want him to scream his lungs out seeing you in sexy lingerie with unruly and untamed "down there" hair? I'd die of shame if my husband reacts that way.

  1. Unless you have a perfect porcelain skin, start taking (extra) care of your skin be it face, arms, legs or whatever as long as the skin is intact with your body. Take supplement. Vitamin C is good to start with. Ask the pharmacist. They can guide you. If you have extra money (to waste) take Vitamin C jab. A friend of mine did it and man, her skin looks beautiful....................for 2 weeks, until her next jab, that is. Personally I wouldn't recommend it. I prefer supplement over injection. Needles make me nervous.

  2. Do facial. But not when it's near to your wedding day as a first timer may experience a slight irritation or redness or little bumps. I know that a facial may and can cause a hole in your pocket but if you can spend thousands of ringgit on your dress, you might wanna spend a little on your face. After all, people will look at your face not your dress.

  3. Get and be fit. It's not all about looking good. It's about feeling good (inside) as well. Spanx and corsets may come handy and an easy solution to camouflage the extra fats but trust me, a little effort of cutting down your eating portion and exercise goes a long way.

  4. Get enough sleep and rest. Delegate the works to your families and friends. That's what they're for. HAHA. Gila kerahan tenaga.

  5. Do professional teeth cleaning or scaling. If money is not an issue go for professional teeth whitening. No one want to see the bride's stained teeth.

  6. Closer to the date, avoid eating food that can stink your breath. Like petai and jering for example. Your mom's sambal petai udang may be the yummiest in the world but bear it for a while. Kang ada yang pengsan lite-lite masa salam kiss kiss tu.

  7. Go for manicure and pedicure. Nothing beats the perfectly manicured nails. Kot ada yang jenis suka gigit kuku tu, takde la kuku pendek kontot bergerigi je rupa dia. Tak ke buruk rupa nak salam dengan tetamu?

  8. Waxing (legs, upper lips or whatever that is hairy and you wanna get rid of). If you dare, go Brazilian. It's a must for me. I can stand the pain as my pain threshold is quite high. What I can't stand is the humiliation and shame. Though my friend assures me that the waxer was quick and there's no even enough time to get and be ashamed of but I still am! How? Must.do.before.get.married.

  9. Go for a spa. Constant massage and scrubbing do wonders to your skin. I am sure your husband will appreciate the baby smooth skin later. Takde la kulit berkerak je dik oi.

  10. Hair treatment. Even if you're wearing tudung. Nak ke bukak tudung lepas habis majlis rambut ko mengerbang macam Cik Pon?

These are all that I could think of right now. Feel free to add anytime. After all, sharing is caring.

Bulu-Bulu Jadian

Haha. Tergelak tengok tajuk entry sendiri. Haha. Bongek Moose.

Ok, sebelum tu....

I had another major emotional meltdown again, last night. It is my 3rd time to date, so early in 2010. The reason, the same reason it always been - career, future and life.

I hate it when I was forced to do something that I don't like at the first place. But what choices do I have? And look where I end up. Unhappy and stressed out. Oh, I sounded so depressed and melancholic. Now, my eyes are all swollen from last night. I'm so embarrassed coming to the office today as they're so obvious!

Whatever. *eyes rolling*

Now, on more happier note. I was on business trip with my colleagues to Penang last week. He had to go back on the same day itself but I had some things to settle so I stayed a night there. I had nothing to do during the night and though I'm dead tired from driving, it was still early to hit the sack. I decided to brave myself and took a drive to the nearest mall. After asking people at the lobby for directions, there I was, all alone in Queensbay Mall, Penang. After spending a good half an hour in Borders, I decided to give myself....

a body waxing! ......Or parts of it.

If you refer to this and this, you'll notice that I'm very particular about body or facial hair. In other words, I'm very particular hair that grows on body parts that is not your head.

I'll do anything to get rid of these hairs. I shave, pluck, tweeze and wax. And oh thread too. Since the engagement is only a week away (from the time I did the waxing), I decided to wax the hair on the back of my hands as well as on the fingers. H said I'm crazy. Bulu-bulu jadian kecik tu pun nak wax katanya. Well, I don't care, his mom gonna sarung the ring and I don't want my future MIL to faint when she sees my hands like this,

Gitu sekali aku exaggerate kan?

Within this week, I'm planning to wax the legs, the arms myself and hit the Indian saloon mentioned in previous entry to do the threading.

Then if I have time (and moolah left) I wanna do manicure! Oh I love the feeling after each manicure session. Your nails are buffed and shiny, the nasty cuticles are trimmed off, the perfect white lines of your classy french manicure. The hand massage. Ah bliss. After the series of emotional breakdowns that I had, I deserve to pamper myself, no?

Tapi lepas tu meroyan bila looking at the bills that I have to pay.

Back to the make-up issue. I had enough with all the dramas that been going on in my current life. So, back to the initial plan. I will do my own make-up. I bought the essential tools last night in addition to what I had. Yela tu tools. Padahal beli concealer je. Haha. I asked a lot of tips from the make-up artist at M.A.C and the MUA was very helpful. Though I forgot what her name is. Jenny or Jennifer or something. Oh, I so love their liquid eyeliner. Very easy to apply but sadly it's not refillable. Unlike those from Shiseido. Liquid eyeliner from Shiseido is on the #1 in my list of essential make-up tools.

#2 is a good foundation. I prefer liquid or cream over compact because it offers more coverage. Bukan coverage line telefon, but coverage as if in even out the skin tone and flaws.

#3 is a good concealer. Both under eye and for spots/acne/pigmentation.

#4 lain kali aku cerita. Aku bukan profi in make-up. My knowledge is limited to only what I (think I) know.

Satu isu dah setel. Malas nak panic and pening kepala. I just want to enjoy the ride and be happy. Last night, during the meltdown, H said something sweet that I shall keep it only to myself to remember. But he kept on repeating this - if you don't try, you'll never know. See where it lead us now...we're getting engaged on Sunday!

Yes sayang, I can't believe (it too) that we are getting engaged. On Sunday. This Sunday. Ngeeeeee.

p/s: Please b2b, don't neglect this part - hairy arm (or back of the palm, what have you..) Dahla photographer to zoom kat jari masa nak sarung cincin tu, dah sah-sahla kalau korang ada bulu-bulu dekat jari tu, bulu-bulu tu akan nampak kan? Korang nak ke anak korang cakap,

Eiii mama, apa ni ada bulu jari..macam serigala jadian.

*pengsan* And no, masa tu anak korang taktau yang serigala jadian can be damn hot like Taylor Lautner. Mungkin masa tu Taylor Lautner sudah middle age dan tidak hot lagi.

Kerana Diriku Begitu Berharga

In my previous entry I did mentioned that I was looking for a place to do facial.

So, the search for the facial place begin. Jaja recommends Ree's Skin. And so I gooogled it. After reading all the reviews from various sources, I decided not to go to Ree's Skin. Somehow I was not convinced. Then I stumbled upon this place, Herbaline. From what I read, they use herbal based products bearing the same name from Taiwan. And what interest me the most is that for 1st trial, the price is only RM28 for a 90 minutes facial. It was tempting so yesterday after I did my eyebrow threading at this Indian salon, I drove my way there.

Oh for those who lives in the Subang area and too lazy to drive all the way to Bangsar for eyebrow threading, you can go to this Indian salon named Rahsia Bidadari. It is located opposite Giant USJ, quite next to Secret Recipe's. I did upper lips and eyebrow threading there and costs me RM10. The girl did a very good job. Not only she threads, she trims the eyebrow as well. I like mine a bit thick but yesterday she kinda made mine a bit too thin for my liking. But overall I'm satisfied.

After that, I went to Herbaline. It was already 6.30 pm and they closed at 6. However the beautician still let me in and I made an appointment at 12pm the following day, which is today.

So today at 11.50am I was already there. Semangat seh. Berkobar-kobar. After filling up the card, the beautician (Jenifer) showed me what kind of treatment she's going to do on me. My treatment costs about RM79. But I paid only RM28 since it was my first trial with them. Before I was ushered inside the treatment area, I was given this sweet herbal tea to drink. Then she asked me to take off my shoes and put my feet into the basin filled with water and sea salt. I was then asked to scrub my feet. After scrubing, I was told to breath in this concoction of aromatherapy herbs 3 times before being taken into the facial area. She gave me a sarung to be worn as tube top and a shower cap. After changing my clothes, the treatment began.

First she cleanse while massaging my face and head. At first it was weird but soon after I was enjoying it. Then she puts this something that soothing and cool before the ultra something something treatment begin. This ultra something something is a machine they use to remove the dead cells off your skin more effectively. Then she steam the face before the extraction of the black/whiteheads.

I must say that the extraction doesn't hurt much. Maybe because I have high pain tolerance kot. Or maybe because I don't have much black/whiteheads. Then she puts mask on my face while massaging the shoulders and head. I was then left alone for about 30 minutes and dozed off to lala land. Afterwards she cleanse the face and put some moisturizer and the facial ends. I was given some lemongrass soup that taste surprisingly good! After that she introduced the products that they carry. She also commented that overall my skin is good but only dehydrated. I like the fact that they don't try to push the customers into buying their stuffs. I mean, if the products are good enough, you don't need much persuasion to buy them, am I correct?

They also have back massage with back masker and others that costs only RM79. The treatment is only from Monday to Friday though. Facial treatment is throughout the week. I also got RM10 off voucher for my next visit. At this time after I paid the bill, I thought that the session is already over. I was surprised that I was being ushered back to the treatment area.........................

to do fish spa!

Tu dia kebulurun ikan-ikan Gurra Ruffa tu semua. Hiks.

"Alhamdullillah, murah rezeki kita hari ini ye, Cik Bedah?"

"Betul tu Cik Yam, cepat makan nanti habis pulak.
"

"Haaa, Cik Yam, Cik Bedah jangan malu-malu tambah lagi. Apa makan sikit sangat tu?"

Dulu dah pernah buat fish spa ni masa pergi night safari dekat Zoo Taiping. Wagaga. Tak tahan akak u'ols. Rasa nak terkucil masa buat ni pun ada.

So, I highly recommend this Herbaline facial to those who are interested. The only downside is that the room is very very dim. But other than that I'm quite satisfied with their service. The one that I went is in Subang SS14, after the KESAS highway interchange in USJ.

Kerana diriku begitu berharga.....

Chewah.

HFairy Tale

Facial hair, facial hair go away come another day or better yet, never come back!

Hi, my name is Moose and I'm very anal about facial hair.

(bunyi cengkerik)

Facial hair la, not anal. Haisssh.

It started innocently when I decided to get rid of all the unwanted facial hair. So what I did was, I went to the Indian saloon and asked them to do threading on the upper lip area and eyebrow and wallah from Frida Kahlo I transformed into Megan Fox. Gituh!

Now, I'm getting a bit obsessed on getting the perfect bush-free eyebrow that 2 weeks ago I went to STRIP , a waxing saloon in Sunway Pyramid to get my brows done. To my surprise, I was told that my brows are too thin and need no waxing. What? But don't you see that the (baby) hair has started to grow back? So, the waxer just trimmed and shaped my brows instead of waxing. That was 2 weeks ago and just now in the office's ladies, I saw the hairs started growing back and I really hate it. And the growth on the upper lips annoys me the most because I can't tweeze them because they hurt like hell. And Bangsar is so far away and traffic is like mad so I can't possible go there during lunch hour. (Oh yeah, I rather not eat than having an excessive unwanted facial hair)

I believe hair should not grow except on places where they should be like, on the top of your head and on the brows or you'll look like an alien.

Though she would be a hot alien.

I know that some women have a lot of hair on their face compared to others. It's all had to do with hormones, genes and race. They say, they say la kan that if you have Indian blood or Sikh, you are tend to be hairy than others. This is however is not a racist statement ok. But I don't have any Indian/Sikh blood in me yet I still have to tweeze, pluck and thread every fortnight. Why oh why??!! Surprisingly my legs are not that hairy, oh well maybe due to constant shaving and DIY waxing kot. I am very conscious about this hairy-matter because when I was in secondary school this mulut-takde-insurans/celupar batchmate of mine said directly to my face; "Moose, ko ada misai la" and my answer was; "Babi-lah ko".

Yes, I was foul-mouthed and still am. But I try to control that very hard if I may add. Bf doesn't like that trait of mine and I don't either, honestly. I say less 4-letter-words these days. Eh, come to think about it, why all the bad (swear) words are made up from 4 letters? Fuck, babi, p*ki (this I never say in my whole life because it downgrades the women-dalam nak mencarut sempat jadi feminist), shit, k*te (ni pun I never say). Tu je kot contohnya. (padahal banyak lagi, malu nak show-off vocab mencarut. haha)

And I'll never forget the day my friend ask me, is it normal to have hairy nipples?

Errr, yes but only if you have a set of dangling balls and dick..

p/s: I'm itching to try Brazilian waxing. The girl at STRIP keep on promoting me to do it. Ish, but I'm very shy to show "that" part to others..

Entri Yang Tajuk Dia Aku Pun Taktau Nak Letak Apa

Malasnya nak update blog. Tapi terpaksa demi untuk dapat duit Nuffnag beribu-ribu. Gituh! Ok, kerana mood malas tapi mahu melanda, kita update blog ni pin-point feeling-feeling ala-ala Tun Dr. Mahathir boleh? *matilah perasan*

  • Lepas raya, kerja banyak nak mati. Tapi tak mati pun masa buat kerja. Hari-hari balik pun pukul 9 malam. Takde life sungguh tapi akak suka je!
  • Lepas closing date tender, graf kesibukan bekerja menurun secara mendadak. Hence explain why I have the time to update this blog.
  • Minggu depan ada major presentation on one of the products. Terima kasih mulut takde insurans! *nada sarkastik*
  • Sebab taknak jadi macam gambar bawah ni, hari ahad aritu sanggup meredah jem pergi Bangsar untuk buat threading. Murah sangat u'ols. RM 5 je. Kedai tu opposite Bangsar Village II, satu area dengan Nirwana Maju Banana Leaf Curry. Tapi diorg setakat threading sajorrk. Takde re/shaping eyebrow ke ape. Tak macam saloon Pakistan kat Frankfurt yang aku pergi dulu. Amboi nak demand plak. Dahla tempat cik murs sajork.

  • Sebelum

    Selepas

*matilah berangan terus jadi Megan Fox kekdahnya lepas tu*

  • My boyfriend hasn't proposed to me (yet) but we've already talked about how our wedding should be (dalam erti kata lain, dua-dua pun berangan) It should be simple, classy, intimate and affordable. Yes, affordable. Takde gunanya kahwin grand bagai buat dekat hotel amik wedding planner tapi buat personal loan/guna duit mak-bapak. Opps siapa ntah taktau. If possible I will not and do not want any barang-barang hantaran and so does he. Just our wedding bands, mas kahwin and tafsir Quran as a starter for our marriage life. I will received a undisclosed amount of wang hantaran known only to me, him and our nuclear family. Kalau ikutkan hati, jemputan pun shall be not more of 200 people. Tapi kenduri kahwin melayu, mau bermasam-muka tak bertegur-sapa tujuh keturunan kalau 4-pupu sebelah tok nek, orang 1 kampung tak dijemput makan free kenduri.

  • Dalam erti kata lain, aku malas nak fikir and behave like a typical bride. I don't like anything cliche and don't want to be bother about benda remeh temeh macam bunga pahar (tak) matched with mini pelamin ke, souvenier VIP berapa biji nak beli, mini pelamin nak taruk pom-pom ke lampu liplap. Gituh! Verangan diva very der vass la sangat aku ni.

Ape lagi nak mengomen kat sini. Ntah tu je kot. Cukup-cukupla. Nak buat-buat macam ade kerja ni.

Mana Nak Buat Eyebrow Threading Dekat Subang Area?

I have a kenduri kahwin and an open house to attend tomorrow. The kenduri kahwin is my school mate's with whom I slept next to (katil la weh, jangan fikir benda lain), sat next to in the class and study room for a year with. I lost contact with her for about 3 years and on one fine day while queuing at a nasi lemak stall, I stumbled upon her. We met up weeks later for her to pass up her beautiful decorated Indon-mari pink wedding card. I have to attend her wedding reception for she has threaten to bomb my unit if I don't attend it. Amboi, apa ko ingat ko tu Noordin Mat Top ke?

Second event is an open house organize by family bakal mentua, eceh H's parents. Of which he insists me to come. Konon nak buat sesi interview (victim: yours truly la, ape lagi!) with his extended family. Silalah panic dan menggelabah! I know that meeting and be friendly on first encounter is not my forte and I've heard enough of people telling me that I am sombong. Yelah tu, wait until you know me better and you'll be wishing I'd stop talking (pulak)! Tak caya tanya my boyfriend, he knows better and I do know that secretly you wish that I'd shut my mouth up, sayang. Bak kata orang Jerman, halt die Klappe! - gituh.

Sekarang ni tengah pening nak pakai baju apa. Dry cleaning Sabtu tengah hari baru siap. Adoi..

p/s: Yes, soalan tajuk diatas. Amat berharap sangatlah kalau sesiapa boleh bagitau dekat mana nak buat eyebrow threading kat Subang ni. I know kat Bangsar banyak tapi malas nak meredah pergi sana. Dan malas nak tweeze sendiri. I like the feeling after each threading session, rasa macam, "Nah ambik ko bulu-bulu kening yang tumbuh meliar. Padan muka dah kena cabut. Muahaha. *gelak jahat* "

Matilah kalau kening jadi macam ni sebab nak pegi threading tak jumpa salon! Mak tak rela u'ols
