Marni for H&M

I have never been this excited for any H&M collection collaboration but this time, I am eager and overjoyed. It was announced in January that Marni will follow in the footsteps of Versace, Stella McCartney etc. to create a collection for H&M and the spring collection will be made available in stores on 8th March.

The campaign video directed by the film director Sofia Coppola starring Imogen Poots has been released in February.

Exciting isn't it?

Since the release of the video and the full collection in Vogue UK, few pieces featured have caught my eyes.

Since I'm not much of an accessories girl, I'm gonna skip the accessories part entirely. Oh, I can't wait to get my hands on these!

Style Covered

Looking back at all my entries, I realized that I have stopped blogging about fashion. Shame on me.

Apart from my family and fiance, ehem. Hahaha. Fashion is the second love of my life. I love fashion and so does shopping.

I was bloghopping and came across this blog. My first impression was, Masya Allah the girl is so pretty! And she's wearing hijab! And she's half-Japanese, half-white. Cantiknya! *nada terlampau teruja*

She's so versatile and fashionable. But most importantly, her style is hijab-friendly! Me likey!.Who says you can't be fashionable when you're wearing hijab? Just.Look.At.Her. Awesome!

My top picks:

Ok, time to bring out those wide legged jeans I've been hiding.

Maxis
(the dress not the telco provider)

I know this is not her, but sayang, can I wear (something like) this for your reception?

Photos all taken from her blog

One of the reasons why I barely dressed up anymore is, I hate getting the stare from strangers! Like whenever I wear my red-riding hood ballerina, the first thing people look at is my feet! Itu belum pakai killer heels lagi. Strange as it sounds, although I don't really mind what people think about me, the only I can't stand is the stare! Pelik kan? Macam shy-shy cat gitu. Haha.

I would describe my style as...bohemian meet girl next door. Ok, people always say this "girl next door". I wonder who's really this girl next door? Anak jiran sebelah rumah kah? Tapi she's only 3 y.o. Boleh ke? Haha. Fiance like me wearing sweet2 girl next door clothes type like babydoll dress and the likes tapi itu bukan saya! Saya suka pakai selebet2 macam Mary Kate Olsen. Haha. Bohemian plus vintage 70's tu. That's so me.

Sometimes I wonder if I was born in the wrong era. I like what my mom wore during her 20's. Hint: long middle-parted straight hair, maxi, wide legged jeans and pussy bow shirt. Menarik kan? I don't have her pictures in the 70's with me but you'll get what I mean, right.

So, what is your style?

Lamé Leggings

Does anyone knows where I can buy lame leggings like this? I've been searching for these leggings high and low since early last year but to no vail.

This one is from American Apparel and cost a whopping 42€, an amount that I'll never ever pay for a mere legging.

I'd be thankful if someone can tell me where to get this coveted shiny leggings at a fraction of price than those from American Apparel, be it from local stores or sales blogs.

I also lately been itching to go shopping and thrifting again. I often enjoy thrifting mainly because you'll never gonna know what you'll find among those clothes. It's like treasure hunting and speaking of treasure, during my last thrifting session with my sister, I found a vintage Chloé skirt and a Giorgio Armani pants! Now I regret for not buying both of them. Lets just hope that both of them are still safe (among other clothes) until my next trip.

p/s (petaling street): I have a penchant for old clothes way before all these vintage clothing hype. I used to rummage through old closets at my grandparents house in Kuching, just to find old clothes like kebaya or baju kurung that is still in mint condition enough to wear. In fact I still wear an embroidered sheer old baju kurung kedah that belongs to my aunt that I found 4 years ago till this very day.

pp/s (petaling petaling street): Sayang, ich vermisse dich sehr!! Komm mal her!!

Vente-Privee.com

I'm a registered member of a private online shopping website called vente-privee.com. Basically to be a member, you gotta have someone who is already a member invites you. Then you'll received the confirmation and yadda yadda, you know the drills right? So, what is so freaking special about this so-called private online shopping websites? Well, they have massive reduction on all brands (that join the campaign) as low as 30% up to 70%! Who wouldn't love that? Certain campaign only lasts for 3 days but some are even up to 7 days. So far brands that had joined the campaign are brands such as Triumph, WMF (I bought a pot set which only costs me 169€ instead of 369€! and a kitchen knife for only 28€ (UP: 60€)), Adidas, Nike, Calvin Klein, Longchamp (gasp!), Escada, Tommy Hilfiger etc. just to name a few.

This week Diane von Furstenberg finally join the campaign!

My heart literally stop when I saw this blouse that is so vibrant in colour, so DvF with its signature wrap style and it costs only 99€ (UP: 315€)!

And also this classic dress, which costs only 165€ (UP: 430€)

Arrggghh, if only I still have credit card! Silalah nangis!

p/s (petaling street): Sadly vente-privee.com doesn't ship to Malaysia but I still have my juniors in Sigmaringen (ngeh ngeh), the only sad thing for me is I don't own credit card anymore!

Shiny Legging

A pair of shiny legging from American Apparel is always on my wish list but a girl gotta be realistic here, right? because spending 42€ solely on a pair of legging is not exactly on top of my list. So imagine my delight when I saw these at H&M online store yesterday with a price so affordable, that it's a crime to pass. But my dream had shattered because they're only be available at end of October, which make no sense for me even to buy it, as I might not be around (well, we're only talking about possibility here, it has yet to be confirmed) here anymore. Now I'm still thinking whether or not I should buy them from AA since I entitled 15% discount from their online store for being a student (yes, the perks as a student). But then again I might as well buy their Le Sac dress, a drape dress with an endless ways to wear!, it worth every penny.

Update

Two weeks had passed since the dinner thingy that I previously mentioned. I'm meaning to update the blog as frequently as possible but with the amount of works and stress I'm having it's kinda impossible. Excuses, excuses I know but I'm terribly sorry. Well it's not like I have frequent readers anyway, not that I mind actually.

So about the dinner, it was actually nice albeit we're sweating heavily with our up-do outfits and it's almost 30°C outside, with no air-conditioner available in the restaurant. Yeah, not a pleasant condition, I must say. All of us had a great time, I guess, catching up and updating each other with our current life. It's certainly nice seeing familiar now matured faces and that time indeed flies fast.

Ok enough about the sweet memories. Let's talk about the outfit that I wore that night. Ah yes, it was exactly as I described before, no changes have been made because truthfully, I didn't even have time to rethink about another new outfit! After the seminar, we only had only the whole 20 minutes to shower, get change and in my case, get the face done. All of this in fricking 20 minutes! I managed to do all of it in half an hour, which made me 10 minutes behind. Ah well, it's fashionable to be fashionably late.

So I'm gonna put up the pics after I finished editing them. It's so typical of me that I totally forgot to snap the outfit but I think there's a good chance that a picture of me and my boyfriend had a full frontal view of it. If not, well maybe I'll have to get dressed exactly like 2 weeks ago and ask my boyfriend to snap it for me since he'll be coming to visit me tomorrow. Oh I can't wait! This long distant relationship is sometimes so refreshing that I always have butterflies in my stomach and get über-excited whenever he's around. I guess I better stop now before I make some of you sick!

Update:

On me:

Scarf: Tie Rack
Blazer: H&M
Dress: H&M
Belt: H&M
Pants: no name
Heels: H&M

On boyfriend:

Shirt: Zara
Pants: - Shoes: ZaraI jokingly told my friend that for that particularly event H&M sponsored me the outfit! Go figure.

Sorry for the pixelated pic, I'm still uncomfortable exposing myself.

Blazer

I have a semi-formal seminar/dinner thingy this coming Saturday. It is organized by InWENT, an organization that acts as our caretaker for the past 4 years. Since I received an RSVP email months ago, my brain has been working hard, putting together imaginary outfits for this Saturday event. I was thinking of combining a dress over skinny pants with blazer, tied up with a belt, perhaps something like these:

Karla from Karla’s Closet is my main inspiration for the outfit. I love the way she combines formal looking blazers and creating something that's so stylish, practical yet chic. More inspirational outfits can be found on her site. Outfits aside, I'm very anxious yet excited to look forward to meet my friends, some of which I haven't meet, ever since we landed in Germany 4 years ago. And also not to forget, my gladiator high heels are gonna making their debut this Saturday!

Looks From Hel(l)

Hel-Looks has been one of my many sources of fashion inspiration. It is without a doubt that our fellow Scandinavian have a quirky yet amazing sense of style. But being a scarf wearer it is sometimes frustrating for not be able to pull off a certain look. But I never allow it to let my (fashion) spirit down, in fact I embrace it. I want to show to others that wearing hijab doesn't mean that you have to dress like a blob. So, imagine my delight when I discovered her (and outfit) on Hel-Looks wearing something that is so decent and conviniently also my kinda style.

In which inspired me for my Monday outfit to work.

Here are some inspirational styles from Hel-Looks

The navy jacket is to die for! as well as the dress

Love both skirts

Her kinda style maybe not fit my cup of taste but it's something nice to see a hijab girl dressed up.

I, finally found my idea of the perfect gladiator heels at H & M the other day. It has the right amount of "gladiator-ness", of the perfect height and price, and happened to be the only one left in my size (or probably in the whole store) . I'm not sure whether it's purely coincidence or fate, but I won't dare to let them be snatched from others, so I gladly bought it.

**Since I'm updating from work, pictures will be uploaded as soon as I return from work. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Fashion Faux Pas

I'm sure some of you have your own fashion no-no or faux pas. Here I listed some of my trend's no-no (the one that I could think of right now, that is)

  • Ugg Boots

No matter how comfy this lil devil looks like, I just can't bear the thought of parading it proudly in public. It's like wrapping and dragging your leg with a brown furry frumpy material. And there's actually a reason they name it Ugg boots because it's freaking Ugg(ly). Go figure.

  • Crocs

Now don't get me even started on this one. Yes we all know that Crocs are lightweight, make your feet breath yadda yadda yadda. Even I also have to admit that the design is getting better but that doesn't stop me from putting Crocs in the list. But who would wanna wear something that's so plastic, so strikingly coloured outside their toilet? I know I won't! If I rule the world, I'd authorized anyone who wear Crocs in the public will be shot dead. It's a (fashion) crime, for God sake!

  • Shoulder pad

I know that in fashion the trends are cyclical. Which means eventhough you thought that you are so over with everything that is 80-ies, some people are just don't? Shoulder pads are great for some who (thought) need that push up around the shoulder, it's like the Wonderbra for the shoulders, funny heh? But then again, it's totally disturbed me when people overdone it esp. with baju kurung/kebaya. I just don't get it, what are they trying to do? Look like a linebacker perhaps?

A linebacker proudly wear his version of baju kurung

  • Colour splash, colour clash

I don't know if you ever heard of this rules or not. It goes like, thou shalt not wear more than 3 colours on the same outfit. Although I did see it works on some but I just don't think it does ever works for me without ending up like coming out of a box of Buncho. And one more thing, as I'm wearing headscarf, my rule goes like, thou shalt not wear pattern scarf with pattern. It might looks charming on some, but just not on me.

What is your fashion faux pas?

For The Love Of Vintage Part II

I did paid a visit to the second shop and boy, was I disappointed! The shop was exactly like it was supposed to be, a second hand shop. A place where people sold their unwanted things and I tell you, really unwanted things. It's very small, so small that the shopkeeper and I barely could move around the same clothes racks. Choices of clothes are not wide, and barely fashionable. Just a piece of baggy old material hanging. However they not only sell clothes but other stuff like porcelain ware, a few shoes, bags and small items like brooches, hat needles etc. Although I'm kinda disappointed I do find a shoe that's adorable and a few belts that caught my attention.

(Note to self: Must go there again, to try the shoe on and check out the belts)

And yes, this is so unlikely me, but I want to post my purchase of the day!
The Nicole Richie Blouse

The Nicole Richie Blouse that I've drooling forever is finally on sale! And I got it for 20€ less. Yay! I worn it with a black turtle neck shirt underneath, a wide black belt, blue-ish denim like leggings and vintage leather boots.

This not even the purchase of day, but I feel like posting it anyway. I bought this vintage 70ies dress a long time ago, even before the my craze about anything/everything vintage started. I've been wearing it mainly as a nighties. But then the print is so cute and I can also wear it as a day dress. I wear a belt around the waist as the dress is a lil bit shapeless. I'm thinking of ripping off the ruffles collar around the neck as I find it rather "distracting" and might as well remove the two pockets around the hip area (I dont know if you can see it) but then they look kinda cute, so I might keep them that way. What do you think?

p/s: On a totally different note, I find myself fat in these pictures!!

For The Love Of Vintage

Since I'm so into vintage clothing right now, I've been hunting some vintage stuff(s) on Ebay like a mad woman lately. So here's some of interesting pieces that I found:

Oxford pattern pump from the 60-ies
(I love the sturdiness of the heels)

Nude coloured pump (year unknown)

Hippie dress from the 70-ies
(update: a buyer place a higher price than me!ARGH!)

Vintage Leather Sling Bag from the 80-ies

I'm also planning on hitting a second hand shop here in the town that I accidently discovered a few weeks ago and also the flea market that takes place every weekend (or is it every two weeks?) here, only the problem is that I don't know the exact place. I haven't pay a visit to the second hand shop yet so I don't know what to expect, whether or not they have vintage clothing that wearable or just a bunch of junk but I'm hoping that I could at least find something. Ebay is a good reliable source to find vintage items, but the only problem is that you have to sometimes compete with other buyer or else end up not having the item you want.

So I really really really hope that my *ehem* bidding skill(s) work its way...somehow.

Baby, It's Cold Outside

..during this time of year. We're here only 3 days away before winter officially begin and semester break! Oh I can't wait for this semester break as I'm rather stressed out with finals, assignments and whatsnot! Last week I finally had stored away all my summer clothing as the weather is getting colder day by day and it's impossible to look cute in your summer dress without turning blue, well you know what I mean. Here I put up my ideal warm and comfy yet stylish version of winter wear:

The key look is layer, layer and lots of layering..

[L-R: Woll Coat
, White Woll Dress ,Grey Long Cardigan, Skinny Jeans (all from H & M), Slouched Suede Boots by Bettye Muller (as seen at Bergdoof Goodman)]

..the boots are kinda similiar to the ones that I have but mine is bought at Flea Market in Amsterdam.

I guess that's all for now, as I'm running late for class! Till then, as the people here say, Tschüss! And oh for all the readers out there, here's a song from Ray Charles & Betty Carter : Baby It's Cold Outside. There's a lot of version of this song but this is the one that I like the most. Enjoy!

When A Star Falls Down (In Fashion)

Well, where shall I begin first? I know there's a lot (by a lot I mean rrreeeaaallyy A LOT) of things going on over Miss Malaysian Sweetheart over here. First, the lacey head scarf thingy on the head. I'm really interested to know which magazine did she flipped through and got her so inspired about. Come to think about it, maybe she's trying to potrait this but not quite get it?

Prada Spring/Summer 07

Oh you poor little thing! Let me tell you something, everything that looks good on the fashion magazine be it Vogue, Elle, Vanity Fair or whatever doesn't mean that it will always works on you. Now that the basic that everyone should know is cleared up, let's move on to the next topic, shall we? I actually like the blouse that she's wearing although it's satin and shiny but it looks great on her. So nothing about the shirt. Now this is the part where I enjoy the most. This is where the real deal takes place. How do I say it without sounding like a bitch? I guess there's no way I wouldn't sound like a bitch, am I? It's a satin, wrinkly and high-waisted pant! It's like 3 in 1 instant coffee or something, but not in a good way, of course. And since she's quite heavy on the down side, the pant only make it worse, satin(y) material will magnify the thighs like no other! Seriously, it's hard to pull it off unless you have a fab body like Agyness Deyn or hard flat stomach like Jessica Alba (she could pull anything off!) or skinny legs like those models have, but having a body that, uuhh-uh no way Jose. And wait, did I spot *clearing throat* a camel toe there underneath all those wrinkles at the crotch?

You see, she talented and lovely but this girl desperately needs a stylist or maybe reading Rachel Zoe's Style From A To Zoe between those break session would help?
