Happy Birthday and Mother's Day

We are going for a 10-days trip tomorrow! Yeehoo!! I'm excited and nervous at the same time. Excited because we're going on a cruise trip for 7 days which starts in Rome and going all the way to Sicily (Italy), Greece and Turkey. I'm nervous because Aqil has (finally) started eating and I don't know how I should do it because he has only started on solid for a week and I'm still a newbie when it comes to baby food. But all I know I don't trust instant/jar baby food because I read citric acid is even added to an organic baby food and as far as I know citric acid is a PRESERVATIVE. Call me an extremist but no way I'm putting that into his body this early. Maybe in the future if it's unavoidable but for now, it's a no.

Hence me buying a second hand Beaba babycook and lugging it on board just to make sure his gut is free of preservatives (as for now) and be filled with his mama's nutritious self-prepared puree. I'm very cautious about what goes into his stomach as he has infantile eczema. Sadly he got it from his momma, yo. Though his condition is very very very mild (his dry patches cleared in a week with Moogoo) but I don't wanna chance anything. Better be safe than sorry.

But because of the Beaba, we might have an excess baggage! *cries*

My birthday is coming up this weekend (nak jugak bagitau. HAHA). I've been hinting H with my wishlist i.e. handbags (as a typical woman, what else?) but by the looks of it, he's ignoring it. Damn. According to him, he already bought me a Storksak when we were in London, which can be counted as a handbag slash diaper bag. Oh well, worse come to worst, I'll consider the cruise trip as my birthday (and Mother's day) gift. Ngeh ngeh.

But I will definitely buy something for myself. Something valuable and has significant meaning like gold, for example.

Gold.

Old.

T______________T

To all mothers out there, here's a video on mothers from a child's perspective. Kinda bring me to tears. I have a mother's heart now, I'm allowed to be sappy. Haha.

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!!!

Skiing Trip

After an awesome and fun-filled gateway that I had last weekend, I am having holiday withdrawal symptoms. Haha, ok you can stop rolling your eyes now.

We went for a skiing trip to Norefjell, about 1 hour and a half bus ride from Oslo. We stayed at the cosy and lovely Quality Hotel & Spa Resort for 3 days and 2 nights. The weekend getaway was part of the Company's inpat culture awareness program. But I was there for the joy ride and free food.

Our room is quite small but generally that is how hotels in Norway are.
Magnificent view from our room
1 photo before dinner.
We had 3 course dinner but the food was not to my liking. We had chick pea soup for appetizer, grilled salmon and rice for the main course and we skipped dessert because the chocolate mousse had (non-halal) gelatine in it. It was bland, not halal friendly and the rice that accompanied the grilled salmon was too salty. I should have go for the full vegetarian menu instead. Breakfast buffet the next morning was bit better but still nothing compared to what we had back in Malaysia.

Then it was time for skiing! Sadly I was only the audience. Hatiku meronta-ronta but yeah, I didn't wanna chance anything. Some other time perhaps.

All geared up. On the background is the beginner's slope

So I became H's wingmen and recorded his actions instead. He's having a blast sampaikan time lunch pun tak reti dah nak stop. Amboi. After lunch, I was so tired macam mengalahkan orang main ski, so I took a nap and woke up when it's time for dinner. We had another 3 course menu but this time, it was better than yesterday. We had celery and wasabi soup for appetizer, cod fish with rice and lastly panna cotta for dessert.

After the dinner, it was announced that appreciation gifts will be given to employees who show participation and inter cultural spirits during the weekend and surprisingly H was one of the winners. He won a silver award because he braved himself and skied on the top hill despite being a first timer. So proud of you sayang!

On our last day, it snowed heavily so no skiing is allowed. We had to listen to inter culture talk by the coordinator and by the time we were finished, it was lunch time. After lunch, we bid goodbyes to wonderful stay and memories.

So here's the amateurish quality video that I made.

Sledging at Frognerseteren

Few weeks ago, H, 2 of his friends and I went for snow sledging at Frognerseteren in Oslo. Frognerseteren is famous for its sledging and skiing track during winter season. I was reluctant to join at first because I was not wearing proper clothing for such sport. I was in my wool coat, vintage leather boots (and heels!) and the weather was too cold for outdoor activities. Ok, I sounded like a bimbo and I really felt like one at that time since everyone was dressed in waterproof jackets and proper sport clothing.

So there I was, like fish out of water. Thankfully, one of H's friends was kind enough to lend me his waterproof jacket. We rented out sledges there for 45 NOK each (helmet comes free) but H's friends brought their newly purchased sledges along.

The bimbo me was changing jacket

The weather was probably around -10C

The sledges were not ours. Ours were more traditional.

It was hard to control the sledge at first and going at at least 45-55km/h on a descending snowy track made it even harder. I was screaming like a mad woman throughout the 2000 meter course that I thought I was going to lose my voice.

Funny yet dangerous thing happened though. At one of the track's corner, I was losing control of the sledge (tried to steer it to left but it was too late) and plummeted off-track. It was dangerous because if I hadn't close my eyes, they would have been poked by trees twigs lying nearby. But the whole incident was so funny (you should have seen my panicked expression!) that I just had to laugh. This 1 guy stop to help but I was already getting on my feet and having seen I laughed so hard, the fellow laughed with me too. My husband stopped to check (he was behind me by seconds) and we literally rolling on the snow laughing. Man, it was so hilarious!

The video below was not taken by us but I just want to show roughly how it looks like.

Enjoy!

Telur-tu, Telur-tu

These videos were viral few years back. I still remember that my husband (then boyfriend) and I were laughing our asses off when we watched them.

Rejoice, aaaaahhhh!

Thanks Shuey for introducing him to me in the first place and also for the link.

Please listen closely to what he has to say.

I thought he did a great job in delivering what I have in mind.

Happy Tuesday!

Get Ready To Get Carrie On

Me and you. Just us two- isn't it sweet?

I'm a huge huge huge fan of SATC. I have the whole DVD collection that I watch over and over again. Thus, when I heard that the second movie is coming up on May 27th, I'm so dying to watch it!

I was still in Germany when SATC the Movie hit the big screen and I watched it within 1 week when it first aired, uncensored. Aah, the perks on living overseas esp. Germany where censorship is a foreign word to them. As we all know SATC will never going to be aired here. The only place or country that I can go is Singapore.

So sayang, can we have a short one day trip to Singapore sometime in May, lets say on 27th?

:)

Vintage Make-up

As you may or may not know, I am an avid vintage lover. In other words, I'm a sucker of everything that is vintage. Vintage shoes, clothing, bags or men. Eh, vintage men don't count. And neither do cars.

Exhibit A: Vintage men. Ini ai takmau

Exhibit B: Vintage men ini ai mau la..hihiks

Since I'll be DIY-ing my own make-up on my engagement day, lately I've been searching high and low for some inspirations. And what do I look for in make-up?

  1. As natural as possible. I want to look presentable and nice but not to the point even my own mother cannot recognise me.

  2. Easy to do. Something that even someone with the very basic skills can do. Someone like me la tu. Muahaha.

  3. Using make-up tools that I already have or if not, things that I know I will be using again and again. Like a good liquid eyeliner or something.

  4. Instructions that are not complicated to follow.

I google-d up vintage make-up tutorial and found fews on Youtube. Among those my favourites are.....

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S55acLTllss Sorry, can't embedded the video here as it has been disabled by the user. But it is easy and I like it. But maybe I'll opted out the flaming red lips. Not much for my liking. I'd go for something more light and demure. Also, red lipstick is notorious for making one's teeth looks yellow, which I want to avoid that! Unless you have a veeerrrryyy white teeth like this one,

Look at my grills, they are shining, bling!

p/s: If you have the time, watch this video. The girl is so cute and pretty and she's still in high school! Another make-up tutorial from her that I like is this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S55acLTllss. A tutorial on Kim Kardashian inspired make-up.

I also love this girl, she's a genius! I followed her blog before and tried one of her recipe for natural home-made facial scrub and it works like wonders to me skin! My skin was glowing like a glow worms. Eh, apakah? Perbandingan yang tidak best.

Someone You Used To Know

It was helpless anyway
There's nothing much we could do or say
Darling don't you think it's a shame?
that it had to end this way
So here's to say goodbye,
our love is lost, and we cant figure why
maybe it really is about time
that we finally made up our minds

So Darling, here's to you
i hope that when you find someone new
that she would always be true to you
to love and understand you

Soon you'll build new memories
then slowly you'd forget about me
then i would slowly be
a distant memory

*Soon i'll just be
that someone you used to know
But darling you will thank me
for letting you go
time is not for wasting
i hope you'll find your intended
But i'm sorry
that your intended isn't me

it's not an easy thing
to shake off our history
i know that's what you want from me
but they will always stay with me

i admit i made mistakes
but darling with you it's just the same
if we stay there will be more to make
i dont know how much more we can take

Darling, it would be unfair
to stay with something no longer there
but it doesn't mean i no longer care
but i'd feel like a burden you can't bear

Love

This video shows that love exists in every form, life and is sometimes undescribeable by words. It sure did and this never fails bringing me into tears. Read the heart-moving article about Christian the lion here

L'amour

I found this, a video of Charlotte Ronson's Spring 2008 collection campaign in Youtube today and I must say that the whole video looks like a love story to me, a lovely yet perfect love story. A girl and a boy, fall in love with each other, every day. With background song from the sultry, raspy voice of the French first lady Carla Bruni, adds a romantic and magical feel to it.

Baby, It's Cold Outside

..during this time of year. We're here only 3 days away before winter officially begin and semester break! Oh I can't wait for this semester break as I'm rather stressed out with finals, assignments and whatsnot! Last week I finally had stored away all my summer clothing as the weather is getting colder day by day and it's impossible to look cute in your summer dress without turning blue, well you know what I mean. Here I put up my ideal warm and comfy yet stylish version of winter wear:

The key look is layer, layer and lots of layering..

[L-R: Woll Coat
, White Woll Dress ,Grey Long Cardigan, Skinny Jeans (all from H & M), Slouched Suede Boots by Bettye Muller (as seen at Bergdoof Goodman)]

..the boots are kinda similiar to the ones that I have but mine is bought at Flea Market in Amsterdam.

I guess that's all for now, as I'm running late for class! Till then, as the people here say, Tschüss! And oh for all the readers out there, here's a song from Ray Charles & Betty Carter : Baby It's Cold Outside. There's a lot of version of this song but this is the one that I like the most. Enjoy!
