On Birthday Present

My birthday is in a week's time and H has been asking me about my birthday present. You may think that he is not romantic but you see, having a wife who hate surprises can be a challenge. It's not because I do not appreciate the gesture, I do, but it seems that I don't know how to react about it that I feared people might think that I don't appreciate their effort. And we are not romantic people. Enough said.

Being asked that, I honestly don't know what I NEED. Note the capital need? Yes, I define a need and a want is totally different. Need is a necessity, where as want is a desire. I can have thousands of lists of what I WANT but maybe a handful of those that I really need.

Well, in the NEED vs. WANT list,

I NEED
  • new satisfying job
  • working leather shoes
  • to get back in shape so that my colleagues won't speculate that I am pregnant
  • a (short) vacation

I WANT
  • new job with handsome paycheck
  • Louis Vuitton Neverfull in GM
  • Chanel 2.55 in Caviar
  • Salvatore Ferragamo ballerina
  • 1.5 carat diamond earrings seen at DeGem
  • a vacation to Mauritius

See the difference? Truthfully, I have a hard time thinking what I want for my birthday gift. I don't need an iPad and neither do iPhone. I am content with the gadgets that I had now. I am tech savvy but won't consider myself as a tech junkie. I love handbags and shoes like any other women but at the moment, we're saving up for a house. So, splurging on unnecessary luxury goods at this time might not be a brilliant idea.

Secondly, I am a practical person. I would rather be given something that I know I'll be using. Like, what my husband gave to me 3 years ago. Might not sound romantic to some to be given a portable harddisk on your birthday but I need it at that time, so it fit perfectly. And I can't thank him enough for that!

Oh well, I never knew deciding on what I want could be this hard! I thought when the time comes, I can come up with a list so easily that he might have a hard time digesting what he read! And that he'll regret to ever ask me that kind of question again. But it looks like it's me who had the hard time!

Maybe, just maybe I'll settle for a low key gift. A dinner for two. Me and him, just us two.

p/s: Sayang, I know that you are reading this, but don't literally take my words ok! HEHE

Moose, I don't know if you are interested or not but of late, a lot of oil and gas companies are looking for new hires. Maybe the crude price is good again that they decide to look for talents in the pool. Try your luck there. I know Shell, Schlumberger, Petrofac (just to name a few) are looking for people. Obviously, a lot of young Exxonites engineers quit because of the better pay these companies offer. Cubalah try your luck! And of course you can go to our local EM website and submit your resume too :)

BTW, my fiance is in Paris. Should I get him to buy me LV? Hahahaha. Is it like cheaper tak there?

Nawar, I will email you regarding the job ok? Need to ask you few questions.

Your fiance is in Paris? Yes, if he's willing to buy. LV in Paris is like 200-300 cheaper compared to price in germany dulu. so i guess, klo nak compare dgn price dkt malaysia, dalam RM 1000-2000 jugak la. what's with VAT lagi kan. lagi jimat banyak!
